we headed out pretty early to catch the free shuttle bus at Yoido FGCA to
Osanri Choi-JaShil (prayer mountain)
i took this photo at the info counter of Yoido FGCA
(shuttle bus info here)
Do note that they will ask you to get on the bus earlier even if it is not about to depart.
we reached there at about 11 and waited on the bus till 1220.
you could walk around the church compound instead. they have a bookstore if you would like to do some shopping for christian products. they have roadside stalls around the vicinity as well.
however, do also note that the bus may get full pretty quickly,
so on the safe side, get on the bus early!
the bus ride takes about 1 hour from Yoido FGCA to prayer mountain

it can get pretty chilly at prayer mountain.
but nothing a sweater cannot warm.
one of my favorite moments was this mini(?) forest of pine trees.
it looked magical.
pine cone!
this is a pretty good place if you would like some quietness
just be prepared for the occasional vain tourist.
*coughs* me
x
we had lunch at the prayer mountain cafeteria. it was pretty good.
they had the noodles or rice option.
i went with the rice and it was probably one of the good ones i had in Korea.
simple, but tasty.
do take note that the cafeteria closes at certain times. 2/3pm? (can't remember)
so be sure to head over for lunch before moving on to somewhere else.
my favorite was this sardine kimchi mix. mad good!
one of the 'must drink's in my opinion
-they have pear bits in it!
x
all smiles!

if you're at prayer mountain,
you would most likely be there to - pray (?)
we spent some time looking for the grottoes.
there were many grottoes around but most were locked.
so here's a brief direction on how to get to the 'open' grottoes.
look for this pagoda looking building. it is actually the info booth
you'll see this sign
and this pathway
stairs on the right
and there you are
the inside of a grottoe.
it was a great experience.
wished we had more time - maybe spend a night there as well?
x
at prayer mountain, there's also this building that is built according to the specifications of the Noah's Ark - doubtless, it was huge.
the interior of Noah's Ark (part of it, at least)

Victory road

the bus can be pretty packed on the way down and we missed one bus for the next one.
plenty of people line up in this booth which was supposedly the bus stop.
we were beyond blessed as we managed to hitch a ride from this lovely lady who was on her way down to the city. to make it better? she stays near a subway station and was able to drop us there. to make it even better? the subway station she dropped us at was several stops closer to our next stop in comparison to National Assembly station which we originally planned to take.
what can i say other than - God is great!

Express Bus Terminal Underground shopping (Go-To Mall)
(credits to lobsterpaints.com)
where do i even start.
it is basically an underground mall connected to the main subway terminal in Seoul.
Directions: take exit 8-1 of the Express Bus Terminal Station
it is huge and the shopping was great.
no, i am not exaggerating.
tops go off as cheap as 5,000 krw and dresses are priced as low as 10,000 krw.
hair accessories, jewellery, shoes to household products
- almost everything you can think of, they have it here, beautifully.
x
one thing to note is that the eateries are located at the ends of the mall. and the mall is huge.
thus the eateries were very far away.
doesn't help if you're hungry and clueless about the distance.
so take note!
dwaenjjang jiggae, kimchi jiggae and bibimbap - super authentic here!
x
Thoughts:
this could just be me but there's this one thing i noted about Korean toilets
- they have their soap like this?
smart and weird but one thing's for sure - no more worrying about dropping the soap.
Also, whatever travel list you're having right now, fit Express Bus Terminal Station in it.
you will not go back empty handed.
