Day 1
>Myeongdong
from what i found online, the main streets are supposed to be at Myeongdong Station (Exit5/6), however, we got out at Exit 9/10. Fret not, you may have to walk abit further if you share the same fate as us, but hey, it's Korea, take in the streets and sights already.
I will admit that at that point we were pretty clueless about where we were but we took a left turn after coming out of exit 9/10 and took the first 'busier' street on our right that we stumbled upon.
* the travel group!
street food was along the way but we did not stop for any
as we spotted something much to our delight!
gyeran bbang (egg muffin) - have this please.
it is the best, especially when hot!
even the steam is glorious!
i had some from another store and it was good!
tteokbokki anyone?
and don't forget to have some odeng (fish cakes). i had plenty and need more.
x
we found YooGaNe which is pretty famous for its dakgalbi (stirfry chicken).
*more on YooGaNe and its location can be found here
we had the non-spicy version with rice and all i can say is
- book a ticket, go to myeongdong and have yoogane already.
x
sneak peek of myeongdong's streets
*spot MCM!
cosmetic shops are lined neatly amongst the busy-ness.
and if you love cosmetics, you'll love Myeongdong.
x
we had some grapefruit juice - worth trying!
*arms*
x
watermelons are huge in South Korea - Gabriel's hand for comparison
- maybe this explains the ample servings of watermelon in Korean restaurants after meal?
chicken on skewers because why not.
pretty mummy! (it rhymes)
more street food! this one is pretty pleasant on the taste buds.
sausages and tteok (rice cakes)
the vendor insisted on drizzling his skewers after he noticed that i was going to take photos of it.
x
dragon beard candy - try this. yes.
random alley in Myeongdong
more street food:
chewy corn and salted buns.
not my favorite but definitely worth the try!
extra: spotted this gigantic scale Nature Republic store
planted in the middle of Myeongdong,
covered in green grass.
it was huge.
it is huge.
end of day 1, we ate like an anaconda.

Thoughts:
Myeongdong is packed with cosmetics stores and you can get cosmetics in bulk (hence a cheaper price) right here. beauty products are pretty much the same in the different stores but the promotions offered may be different. the sales person may be a tad bit pushy or intimidating, but be firm with what you want and do not buy on impulse (or out of fear - yes, it happens). but then again, you're in Seoul, buy it will you?
food are aplenty (both restaurants and street stalls). initially, i did a lot of research as to what to eat at the different places we were going to, but ended up following much of our growling stomach and gut feeling. of course, the research was helpful as you may stumble on some famous food which you should definitely try. still, i do not think it is wise to spend time in looking for a particular food store unless you are in the vicinity!
basically, most products for sale are pretty much fairly (and similarly) priced across Seoul, even in the outskirts. this is one thing i like about Seoul as you don't really feel 'cheated' when you see the same thing cost lower than the price you bought it for the day before.
in my opinion: buy it when you see it, and don't regret.
*slight differences in prices do occur but don't really run far.
